Summary
This position is responsible for reviewing, analyzing, and supporting the data warehouse and decision support systems to provide timely, accurate data to the users of the enterprise's business information. Supports the reporting super users by transferring knowledge related to data definition, query building, and system usage. Supports the data flow which results from the business processes, and the data integrity within the related data stores. Maintains the timely movement of data into the data warehouse.
Responsibilities
Reviews, analyzes and documents data flow from and/or through the source systems, and maintains data integrity in the data warehouse through the creation of audit queries and ABAP balancing reports.
Works with the reporting super users to help them understand data definitions, and how to use available reporting tools. Also helps the reporting super users and their departments develop solutions for capturing business KPIs, and exception reports that facilitate improved and timely decision making. This includes:
" Capture and analyze business needs and strategic information requirements
" Develop detailed analysis and design specifications with the Business Intelligence Application Developer and Data Architect
" Assist in quantifying benefits of solution
" Maintains company standardized reports
" Maintains support documentation for business users
Maintains timely movement of data into the data warehouse through management of data loads, resolving technical and timing difficulties as needed.
Testing of functionality, security, and query performance in the data warehouse. This includes working with a DBA to improve front-end performance.
Work closely with business application developers, data architect, business users, and other IS team members to ensure technical compatibility and integration where needed.
Qualifications
Requirements
A. Education: Bachelor's degree in Business Administration (with significant IS experience) or a degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline, with significant business experience.
B. Experience: 3-5 years of business analyst, or systems analyst experience, with emphasis on decision support systems. Prior experience with other DSS/EIS/OLAP tools such as SAP's BW or related products. Development of, or work experience with, client/server applications.
C. Knowledge:
" Strong interest in the business and clear comprehension of business issues and problems
" Knowledge of EIS/DSS applications and their uses
" Strong business system analysis knowledge
" Strong understanding of metadata
" Strong understanding of structured analysis and design techniques
D. Skills and Abilities:
" Ability to creatively refine business requests for information and provide end users and management with improved decision making capabilities
" Strong analytical and problem solving skills, and ability to interpret results of query analysis
" Ability to effectively adapt to rapidly changing technology and apply it to business needs.
" Ability to integrate multiple tools to solve problems
" Excellent interpersonal skills at all management levels
" Excellent oral and written communication skills; ability to present and explain technical information in a way that establishes rapport, persuades others, and gains understanding
" Strong business focus and management of expectations
" Basic knowledge and usage of Microsoft Office products, especially Excel,Visual Basic, and Access
