Summary:
Sr Business Application Developer’s are responsible for participating in the development, maintenance and enhancement of business applications. Under the guidance of a Business Application Manager, they collaborate with company customers, staff members, IT colleagues, and other stake holders to define detailed customer requirements and system interfaces, access available
technologies, and develop and present solutions. The primary function is to assess objectives for the assigned project phases, recommend and execute tactical technical tasks to achieve business needs.
Key Work Performed:
• Provide technical expertise within an assigned business unit/area, usually as a member of a project team, in the analysis, design and development of business applications.
• Provide technical consulting support on project or system issues.
• Collect and analyze business requirements for large, multifunctional projects. Identify conflicting business practices and integration issues, suggesting alternative solutions.
• Perform feasibility studies, translating requirements into an appropriate design.
• Work with Enterprise Assistant Application and associated data structures, troubleshoot application and/or data issues to satisfy business requirements. Perform hands on technical tasks using Microsoft programming techniques.
• Formulate and define application scope and objectives; devise and modify procedures to solve business problems.
• Prepare detailed specifications from which programs will be written.
• Lead small projects or regularly coach other project personnel to ensure business application systems are developed in a way that complies with architectural standards and established methodologies and practices
• Monitor and report to management on the status of project efforts, anticipating/identifying issues that inhibit the attainment of project goals and implementing corrective actions.
• Create and update required documentation.
• Foster and maintain good relationships with customers and IT colleagues to meet expected customer service levels.
• Other assigned responsibilities necessary for completion of IS mission.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
A. Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Information Services or business-related (functional)
discipline (accounting, finance, etc.), with and understanding of programming
concepts. In lieu of a Bachelors Degree, an individual with business-related
experience.
B. Experience:
• At least 3 to 5 years of experience using Microsoft technologies (SQL Server development, Visual Basic etc.), CRM module and SAP Portal.
• Experience with addressing help desk issues in areas of expertise and assisting with user problems in associated areas.
• Experience in a Service and/or Retail industry environment.
• Experience with structured design, development and implementation of new computing architecture.
C. Knowledge:
• Knowledge or project management techniques is required, (cross-functional experience is highly desirable)
• Conceptual knowledge of information technologies and methodologies in a client server environment.
D. Skills and Abilities/ Competencies:
• Strong technical knowledge, with hands-on experience managing systems development in new computing architectures and environments using Microsoft technologies.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, with an ability to express complex technical concepts in business terms.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and conceptual skills.
• Good project management skills, operating as part of a team, organizing, planning, and executing large-scale projects from vision through implementation.
• Strong interpersonal skills, ability to work on cross-functional project teams and foster team commitment to tasks.
• Microsft development skills using one or tools.
• Solid understanding SAP’s data model in one or more functional areas.
• Thorough business understanding in one or more functional areas, as well as an understanding of the organization’s industry.
• Familiarity with Microsoft solution framework and/or SAP architecture.
